Origin of the exhibition as part of the IBA Hamburg

Jenfelder Au was one of the reference projects of the International Building Exhibition - IBA Hamburg 2013.

Under the motto "Cities in climate change", concepts for the metropolises of the future were presented with the aim of sustainability. The Jenfelder Au project was included in the group of reference projects on this topic due to the innovative HAMBURG WATER Cycle® drainage concept and the contribution of the construction measures to the revitalisation of the former Lettow-Vorbeck-Kaserne.

Within the framework of the IBA Hamburg, the exhibition "Stadtquartier Jenfelder Au" was set up, which continued to be open even after the IBA presentation year.

Germany - Land of Ideas

The initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas" annually awards innovative and sustainable projects. For example, the HAMBURG WATER Cycle® (HWC) project in Jenfelder Au was awarded the "Excellent Location 2013/14" prize. The HAMBURG WATER Cycle® concept has been awarded as a new, sustainable approach to the energy recovery of toilet waste water. Closing cycles contributes to sustainable urban planning, in which the topics of housing, water disposal and energy supply are considered together.

VKU-Innovation Award 2013

In 2013, the HAMBURG WATER Cycle® project in Jenfelder Au won the VKU Innovation Award in the water and wastewater sector. The Association of Municipal Enterprises (Verband kommunaler Unternehmen e. V.) (VKU) assessed the cycle-oriented wastewater concept as trend-setting in terms of the use of renewable energy sources and at the same time emphasized the exemplary character for other cities. The development of the HAMBURG WATER Cycle® is also groundbreaking in terms of sustainability.
